Cop killed in motorcycle collision with trailer lorry in Nilai


SEREMBAN: A police officer was killed when his motorcycle crashed into the rear of a trailer lorry along the North-South Expressway near Nilai.

Nilai police chief Supt Abdul Malik Hasim said Asst Supt Muhammad Safwan Muhamad Ismail, 36, was killed on the spot in the 7.45pm crash on Tuesday at KM273.5 of the highway.

The deceased was with the Bukit Aman Special Branch's Counter Terrorism Division.

"Preliminary probe reveals that the deceased crashed into the rear of the trailer lorry, which had stopped along a lane at the entrance to the Seremban R&R.

"The deceased sustained severe head injuries and died instantly," he said.

He said witnesses can contact investigating officer Inspr Zakaria Mohamad Jais at 019-6990142 or the nearest police station to assist in investigations.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
