Appointments discussed at Rulers’ meet

KUALA LUMPUR: The 266th meeting of the Conference of Rulers, which was held at Istana Negara, discussed the appointments of the chairman and members of the Public Service Commission, the chairman of the Election Commission, and Royal Professors.

The Office of the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal said the meeting also discussed a new policy proposal to amend Part III of the Federal Constitution regarding citizenship.“The meeting was briefed on the nation’s security and defence by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain and Chief of Defence Forces Jen Tan Sri Mohammad Ab Rahman,” it said, reported Bernama.

His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, attended yesterday’s meeting. His Majesty was accompanied by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The two-day meeting began on Wednesday and was chaired by the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir. The meeting was last convened on Feb 21 and 22.

Also present at the meeting were Regent of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail and Crown Prince of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.Tunku Temenggong of Johor Tunku Idris Iskandar Sultan Ibrahim attended the first day of the meeting.

Tunku Mahkota Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, the Regent of Johor, attended the second day of the meeting.

The Crown Prince of Kelantan Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Petra and Tengku Laksamana of Selangor Tengku Sulaiman Shah were also present.
