SUNGAI BULOH: The body of Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah has been released to her family upon completion of the forensic identification.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the identification was positive, and the body found at Kampung Sri Keledang in Hulu Selangor has been confirmed to be Nur Farah Kartini.

“Based on DNA samples taken from her family members, they are a match to the body found at Kampung Sri Keledang,” he said when contacted.

The body was released at 2.14pm and transported in a funeral van from Sungai Buloh Hospital to Pekan, Pahang, where she was laid to rest.

The victim’s older brother, Mohd Farizza Amir, told reporters that the family would leave it to the police to investigate his sister’s murder.

“We are confident the police will be able to thoroughly investigate the case.

“We are leaving it completely up to the police.

“That is all I can say at this point,” he said when met at the hospital.

Previously, DNA samples from family members of Nur Farah Kartini were collected to enable forensic identification of the victim.

Comm Hussein said police are resorting to forensic identification as visual identification cannot be done.

Earlier on Wednesday, police divers found a mobile phone in a ditch at a palm oil estate in Kampung Sri Keledang, believed to have belonged to Nur Farah Kartini.

Police also believed the location in Kampung Sri Keledang was the primary crime scene and that the act was committed by one perpetrator.

It was previously reported that the victim’s body was found at a palm oil plantation in Kampung Sri Keledang, Hulu Selangor, on July 15.

Nur Farah Kartini was reported missing in Tanjung Malim, Perak, on July 11 after sending a rental car to a customer at Taman Universiti, Tanjung Malim.

A policeman, believed to be her boyfriend, has since been detained and remanded for seven days.

The case is classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
