Dr Wee congratulates King on installation as Malaysia's 17th King

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has congratulated His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim on his installation as the 17th King of Malaysia.

The MCA president expressed his heartfelt congratulations in a Facebook post, saying he hoped that Malaysia would continue to grow under His Majesty's reign.

"Daulat Tuanku," the Ayer Hitam MP said in a Facebook post on Saturday (July 20).

Malaysia witnessed the installation of Sultan Ibrahim as the nation's 17th King today at a ceremonious installation steeped in tradition at Istana Negara marking the start of his five-year reign.

Sultan Ibrahim, 65, from Johor, was seen donning the official ceremonial attire known as Muskat, complete with the Royal headdress, a buckle and a short dagger.

Approximately 700 guests, including Malay rulers, governors, foreign dignitaries and leaders attended the ceremony, which was streamed live on national television.

His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim was elected to the office by the Malay Rulers at the 263rd (Special) Meeting of the Conference of Rulers in October last year to reign for a five-year term which started on Jan 31.
