Foreign diplomats congratulate Sultan Ibrahim on installation as country's 17th King


KUALA LUMPUR: Foreign diplomats in Malaysia extended their heartfelt congratulations to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim on his official installation as the 17th King of Malaysia.

The coronation ceremony, held at Istana Negara on Saturday (July 20), was steeped in the traditions and customs of the Malay Rulers.

British High Commissioner to Malaysia, Alisa Terry, who attended the coronation, expressed her honour at being invited.

"The longstanding relationship between the Royals from both our countries and the deep people-to-people links form the foundation of the modern partnership between the United Kingdom (UK) and Malaysia," she told Bernama.

She also conveyed a special congratulatory message from UK’s King Charles III: "I write to congratulate you most warmly on your Coronation as The King of Malaysia. I look forward to working with you to strengthen the bonds between our people and deepen the close cooperation between our nations.

"As Commonwealth partners, the United Kingdom and Malaysia share common values and longstanding links in areas such as education, trade, technology, and defence.

"I hope we can continue to build on all that unites us in the years ahead, including our shared commitment to tackle climate change and safeguard the natural environment for future generations,” read his message.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian Ambassador to Malaysia, Ragai Tawfik Said Nasr, also attended the coronation ceremony.

He expressed his admiration for the exceptional organisation and the amazing atmosphere of the historic event at Istana Negara. The ambassador conveyed his heartfelt congratulations as well as a message from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on His Majesty's installation as King of Malaysia.

Nasr mentioned that he had the honour of meeting Sultan Ibrahim during the visit of the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Prof Dr Ahmad Muhammad Ahmad At-Tayyeb, to Malaysia from July 2 to July 5, where His Majesty granted an audience to the Grand Imam.

"I am confident that under Sultan Ibrahim's rule, Malaysia will experience a very prosperous future over the next five years, guided by his wisdom and the insights he shared in his speech at the ceremony.

"I hope we can find many more opportunities for both Malaysia and Egypt, and the relationship between both countries will grow even closer," he said to Bernama.

The Embassy of Ukraine in Malaysia, Chargé d'affaires ad interim, Denys Mykhailiuk, extended his heartfelt congratulations to Sultan Ibrahim and his family on the auspicious occasion of his installation as the King of Malaysia.

Mykhailiuk remarked that this significant milestone marks a new chapter in Malaysia's rich history, and Ukraine looks forward to strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing cooperation under His Majesty's leadership.

He expressed hope that this new chapter would bring prosperity and well-being to the people of Malaysia.

The Australian High Commissioner to Malaysia, Danielle Heinecke, posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) expressing her congratulations to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim on his installation as King.

"Our heartiest congratulations to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim on the Occasion of His Majesty’s Installation as the 17th King of Malaysia," she said in a post on X.

The United States (US) Embassy in Kuala Lumpur also posted on X (@usembassykl), wishing congratulations to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim on his installation as Malaysia’s King.

"Congratulations to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, on his installation as The 17th King of Malaysia. #DaulatTuanku," read the post.

The Delegation of the European Union to Malaysia, through their official account on X (@EUinMalaysia), posted: "Heartfelt congratulations to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim on the occasion of His Majesty's coronation as the 17th King of Malaysia. May his reign be full of success and prosperity!”

The Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Kuala Lumpur also conveyed their congratulatory message to Sultan Ibrahim through a post on their official X account (@TCKualaLumpurBE).

"We would like to express our heartfelt congratulations to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, in conjunction with His installation ceremony today (Saturday, July 20) as the 17th King of Malaysia," read the post. - Bernama
