Princess Ameerah of Brunei catches eye of Malaysians during King’s installation

PETALING JAYA: The presence of Brunei princess, Pengiran Anak Puteri Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah, at the installation ceremony of Sultan Ibrahim as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong at Istana Negara on Saturday caught the eyes of Malaysians.

Princess Ameerah’s fan page IG post @ameeraahbolkiahh went viral after clips from the Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) broadcast were shared on the account, which showed the Princess entering Balairung Seri with the Brunei royal family.

The Princess caught many eyes for being elegantly dressed in a modern baju kurung and grey shawl and seen adjusting her shawl while seated among other royal guests.

On Friday (July 19), she also caught the hearts of many after her appearance in a brown modern baju kurung when the Brunei royal family were welcomed by the Johor royal family upon their arrival to the country.

Internet users were excited with many welcoming Princess Ameerah’s visit to Malaysia, signifying that it was her second home.

Resembling her mother, who is former TV3 host and journalist Azrinaz Mazhar Hakim, the Princess was praised for her beauty.

Speculation was also rife about the Princess meeting her mother which became a topic of discussion among internet users.

Many had expressed hope of her meeting her mother. However, the account owner @ameeraahbolkiahh mentioned that Azrinaz was out of the country vacationing with her family.

Just a week earlier, Azrinaz had posted a video about a family vacation in Hong Kong.

Born in Bandar Seri Begawan on January 28, 2008, Princess Ameerah is the 12th child of the Sultan of Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah with his former wife, Azrinaz.

The Sultan married Azrinaz on August 20, 2005, and they were blessed with two children: Pengiran Muda Abdul Wakeel, 18 and Princess Ameerah, 16.

Azrinaz and the Sultan of Brunei divorced in 2010. She has since been remarried to TV3 colleague Firoz Khan Abdul Hamid on May 1, 2018.
