Rain disrupts search in Nur Farah Kartini case

HULU SELANGOR: A police team, including forensic unit members, was deployed to Sungai Trolak in Kampung Batu, Perak, in search of evidence in the Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah murder case.

Hulu Selangor OCPD Supt Ahmad Faizal Tahrim said the search for the victim’s belongings was conducted by the forensic unit and Hulu Selangor Criminal Investigation Department yesterday.

“We are still conducting a search at Sungai Trolak. The investigation is ongoing and so far, the cause of death has not been ascertained,” he said when contacted.

The search had to be halted after about two hours due to murky water conditions in Sungai Trolak following rain.

“Considering the situation ... and the river structure with wooden debris and uncertain water levels, it is not safe for the dive team to carry on the search,” he said.

Supt Ahmad Faizal said for now, the search at the main crime scene in the oil palm plantation at Kampung Sri Keledang in Hulu Selangor had concluded.

“Further action will depend on the findings of the forensic unit,” he said.

On Thursday, police recovered a handbag believed to be Nur Farah Kartini’s. Just a day before that, a mobile phone was discovered at the oil palm plantation in Kampung Sri Keledang.

Police believe the location in Kampung Sri Keledang is the prime crime scene and the act was committed by one perpetrator.

It was reported that the victim’s body was found at the same plantation on July 15.

Nur Farah Kartini was reported missing in Tanjung Malim, Perak, on July 11.

She was reported missing after sending a rental car to a customer at Taman Universiti, Tanjung Malim.

A policeman, believed to be her boyfriend, has since been detained.

The case is classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
