SUBANG: Guests have started to arrive since yesterday for the installation ceremony of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong at the Istana Negara today.
Among those who arrived yesterday were the Sultan of Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, the King of Bahrain Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Senior Singapore Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
Sultan Hassanal arrived at Subang Malaysia Royal Air Force (RMAF) Base at 11.55am, personally piloting the Royal Brunei Boeing 787-8 (BBJ) aircraft.
His Majesty was accompanied by his consort, Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha, Brunei Prince Pengiran Muda Abdul Mateen Bolkiah, and members of the Brunei Royal household.
Tunku Puteri Johor Tunku Tun Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah and her husband, Datuk Dennis Muhammad Abdullah, Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris Iskandar, Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman, and Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar received the royal delegation.
Also present was Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.
Their Majesties then walked past a static guard of honour mounted by 28 officers and personnel from the First Batallion of the Royal Ranger Regiment (Ceremonial Infantry) led by Captain Nur Ahmad Zain Zahari.
The attendance of Their Majesties at the installation ceremony is upon the invitation of Sultan Ibrahim, which was personally presented to Sultan Hassanal on June 25 at Istana Nurul Iman in Brunei’s capital city, Bandar Seri Begawan.
The commercial aircraft carrying Lee, along with his wife Ho Ching and his delegation, landed at Terminal 1 of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport here at 4.15pm.
He was accompanied by Senior Minister of State for Defence and Manpower Zaqy Mohamad and Senior Minister of State for Culture, Community and Youth Low Yen Ling, who is also Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry.
During the visit, the former prime minister will attend both the installation ceremony and the Royal Banquet.
Lee is also scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the Malay Rulers, Malaysian ministers and leaders, and speak at a Kuala Lumpur Business Club dinner.
