Two teachers held for abusing student

MELAKA: Two teachers from a secondary school here have been arrested on suspicion of molesting a 16-year-old female student.

The two suspects, aged 35 and 46, were produced at the Magistrate’s Court in Ayer Keroh yesterday where a five-day remand order was granted.

The men are being probed under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

The first suspect is said to have committed an offence in a room that was used as a sick bay at the school on July 11.

The girl claimed that the first suspect hugged her when she returned to school after a clinic visit.

The suspect locked the door of the sick bay and sat beside her before hugging her.

The girl lodged a police report on Thursday.

She also reported the second case where the 35-year-old teacher had fondled her in an art classroom sometime in March.

The suspect had also kissed her neck and conveyed his intention to marry her after her SPM exam next year.

Both suspects were arrested at the Melaka police headquarters in Bukit Beruang when they turned up to assist in the investigation on Thursday.
