IPOH: A total of 35 schools in Perak recorded 100% passes for the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) 2023 examination.
Perak Education Department director Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Mahson said it was an improvement from 30 schools getting 100% passes in 2022.
Mohamad Fauzi also said that out of 3,129 candidates, a total of 3,012 (98.21%) students obtained all passes compared to 3,357 candidates (98.13%) in 2022.
"This shows an increase of 0.08 percentage points.
"There are 82 pupils who recorded a 4.0 cumulative grade point average (CGPA), while 1,361 achieved CGPA of between 3.0 and 4.0," he told a press conference at the state Education Department here on Tuesday (July 23).
Mohamad Fauzi added that SMK Jalan Tasek in the Kinta district has the highest number of candidates with a 4.0 CGPA, at 11.
"This is followed by two Taiping schools – SMK King Edward VII with eight students and SMK St George with five," he added.
