Jagdeep taking a few weeks off from work

GEORGE TOWN: Penang’s Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo (pic) has taken leave to seek medical treatment and will not be back for a few weeks.

“My ankle still hurts although it has been two years since I had a fall. Most of you would have noticed I was limping badly,” he said yesterday.

Jagdeep said he will be in Kuala Lumpur to seek a second opinion on his ankle.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said he will be issuing an official statement on the matter today.

“Please wait for my statement tomorrow (today),” he said.

Earlier, it was reported that a Penang state exco member had been instructed to go on leave to sort out a personal problem which had affected his work.

“He has been given a reprieve and told to sort out his problem. Talk is rife that he might be replaced in the exco line-up, but will remain as assemblyman,” one source said.

A source said DAP is embarking on a house-cleaning process before the state party election in September.

“As state DAP chairman, Chow is expected to face stiff competition from a rival camp led by a senior party leader.

“He must put forward a strong team to fill the 15-member state committee line-up,” said the source.
