SELAYANG: The cumulative grade point average (CGPA) for the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) 2023 examinations has improved by 0.02 from 2022 to 2.84.

Malaysian Examinations Council chairman Datuk Dr Mohd Ekhwan Toriman (pic) said this is the highest national CGPA since the STPM was introduced.

He also said 1,116 (2.7%) of the candidates scored a perfect 4.00 CGPA.

"The number of candidates who got a CGPA of 4.00 dropped by 68, that is from 1,184 candidates in 2022 to 1,116 in 2023," he said when announcing the STPM results analysis on Tuesday (July 23).

Of the 1,116 candidates, 803 or 71.95% are from B40 families, he added.

A total of 41,158 candidates sat for the examinations for all three STPM 2023 semesters.
