Babysitter remanded after two-month-old baby sustains broken thigh


JOHOR BARU: A female babysitter is remanded after a two-month-old baby girl was believed to have sustained a broken left thigh while under her care.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said a police report regarding the baby lodged on Sunday (July 21) at 4.58pm.

“Based on information received, the police detained a 36-year-old woman, who is the babysitter, on Monday (July 22) at around 10.50am,” he said in a statement here on Wednesday (July 24).

ACP Raub added that further checks found that the suspect had no prior records and tested negative for drugs.

He said the suspect was under remand for six days until Sunday (July 28)

“The case is being investigated under Section 31(1) (A) of the Child Act 2001 as there are signs of negligence on the victim,” he said, adding that those with information can contact the Johor Baru South police hotline at 07-2182323.
