PUTRAJAYA: Bersatu should be "worried sick" over the rumour of Umno and PAS collaborating in the next General Election, says government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil.
"What we do know is, Umno's top leadership has stated that there were no discussions between the parties.
"Whatever it is, it is Bersatu that should be worried sick as many (in PAS) are hoping that it will contest in Nenggiri," the Communications Minister told the post-Cabinet meeting press conference here on Wednesday (July 24).
Fahmi, who is also PKR information chief, was asked to comment on rumours of talks between Umno and PAS about a tie-up in GE16.
On Tuesday (July 23), Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi denied holding talks with PAS on purported cooperation between the parties.
Asked if there had been any meetings involving leaders of Umno and PAS, Ahmad Zahid said it would have been in their personal capacity, and unofficially.
Talk of a tie-up arose following recent claims by PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari that both parties had frequent meetings recently.
On another matter, Fahmi said Malaysia will work to get Indonesia, Brunei and bodies such as the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Gulf Cooperation Council to push for the implementation of the recent decision by the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
He said like-minded countries would raise the matter at the United Nations including the UN Security Council and Human Rights Council.
On Friday (July 19), the ICJ ruled that Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories is unlawful and should cease immediately.
