PUTRAJAYA: The parents of National Defence University of Malaysia (UPNM) Navy cadet Zulfarhan Osman Zulkarnain were overwhelmed with emotion after the Court of Appeal handed down the death sentence on six former cadets who were found guilty of their son’s murder.

Zulkarnain Idros, 60, and his wife, Hawa Osman, 61, expressed their relief and vindication as they prostrated themselves in gratitude to Allah following the appellate court’s decision.

Zulkarnain, wearing a dark blue tee with thehashtags #justice4farhan #sayNOtoBULLY and #humanity, said he was grateful and relieved that justice was served on the six former cadets who bullied his son, Zulfarhan, in an incident seven years ago.

“I am most grateful to Allah for hearing our prayers and the prayers of all Malaysians who follow this case.

“The Court of Appeal made the right decision by passing the death sentence,” he told the press.

Zulkarnain and his wife teared up in the courtroom as they listened to the statement of facts in the case.

He said he could guess the panel leaned in his son’s favour as the decision was read out.

“I am very grateful that the facts rebutted the defence lawyers’ arguments in the case,” he added.

Zulfarhan, 21, had tragically passed away at Hospital Serdang after succumbing to his injuries.
