KOTA KINABALU: Over 100 pupils had food poisoning after consuming nasi lemak served at a school here, says Datuk Dr Asits Sanna.
The Sabah Health Department director said their investigators found the children had eaten the food at 9.50am on Monday.
He said the Kota Kinabalu health office were then notified by clinics and government hospitals in the area of the outbreak later at 2.09pm.
“The outbreak involved 103 pupils at a primary school in Pulau Gaya,” he said in a statement yesterday.
“They showed symptoms such as vomitting, diarrhea and stomach ache.
“Eight pupils were warded while 95 children received outpatient treatment.
“The pupils, aged between six and 12, are in stable condition with no fatalities reported,” said Dr Asits.
He added the full history of the pupils’ movements and exposure to food items are still under investigation.
