SHAH ALAM: A goreng pisang vendor suspected of abducting two young girls in Jeram has been brought to the Sungai Besar Magistrate's Court on Thursday (July 25), reports Malay language daily Sinar Harian.

The 32-year-old suspect, dressed in a purple lock-up uniform, arrived in a police truck at 8.20am.

The handcuffed suspect kept his head down as he was escorted into the court.

On Wednesday (July 24), Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan announced that authorities had received orders to charge the man with two offences under Section 363 of the Penal Code for kidnapping children from lawful guardianship, Sinar Harian reported.

If found guilty, the suspect could face a maximum prison sentence of seven years and may also be fined.

The Kuala Selangor district police headquarters had received a report regarding the disappearance of an eight-year-old girl in Taman Ikan Emas, Jeram, Kuala Selangor at 6.30pm on July 19.

Previously, social media was abuzz with reports of the disappearance of two children, allegedly kidnapped by a man driving a sedan.
