KL Tower offers Merdeka Madness discounts of up to 60%

KUALA LUMPUR: KL Tower is offering up to 60 per cent discounts for Malaysians through the Merdeka Madness campaign starting Aug 1, in conjunction with the 67th National Day celebration.

Tourism, Arts, and Culture Deputy Minister Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan said the campaign, which runs until Malaysia Day on Sept 16, will allow more people to experience a visit to KL Tower.

"It's not just a visit, but a journey to explore Malaysia's heritage and modernisation. Last year’s Merdeka Madness campaign was a roaring success.

"This also proves that Malaysia is rich with cultural uniqueness and tourist attractions, making it a preferred destination for both local and international tourists," he said during the campaign's launch here on Friday (July 26).

The Merdeka Madness campaign offers Sky Deck tickets at RM28 for adults compared to the normal price of RM71, and RM15 for children (normal price RM37). Observation Deck tickets are priced at RM12 for adults (normal price RM30) and RM8 for children (normal price RM20), while Tower Walk 100 tickets are available at RM8 for adults (normal price RM20) and RM6 for children (normal price RM15).

Meanwhile, KL Tower chief executive officer Nazli Saad said the Merdeka Madness campaign is being held again after attracting over 200,000 visitors last year.

"The number of local tourists surged up to 40 per cent compared to 20 per cent (without promotion) after the Merdeka Madness promotion ended last year.

"This increase clearly shows the effectiveness of the promotion in attracting local interest in domestic tourism, especially to KL Tower," he said.

Nazli added that activities throughout the campaign include the Colours of Malaysia Tower Lighting, which will illuminate the entire KL Tower with the colours of the flags of Malaysia's 14 states.

In addition, the campaign will feature the Sayembara Malay Poetry Declamation Competition, the Merdeka Photo Contest, food and drink truck sales, musical performances, cultural programmes as well as a durian festival.- Bernama
