Three cable thieves nabbed in Labuan


KOTA KINABALU: Police arrested three men for cable theft in the Labuan area.

Labuan OCPD Supt Mohd Hamizi Halim said the suspects, aged 35 to 42, were arrested on Thursday (July 25).

Police tracked down the men after receiving a report at 4.30pm on Wednesday (July 24), regarding missing and damaged Telekom Malaysia Bhd cables near Kampung Bukit Kalam and Kampung Rancha-Rancha at the island, involving losses estimated at RM28,000.

“The arrest of the trio led to solving the two reported cases.

“We also seized a vehicle and several items believed to be used to cut the cables.

“Remand order of four days for the three suspects started from Saturday (July 27) to July 30 for further probe,” he said on Friday (July 26).

He added that that all three of the men had criminal records while two of them tested positive for drugs.
