Selangor's Sultan and Tengku Permaisuri express condolences to Michael Chen's family


PETALING JAYA: Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and Tengku Permaisuri Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, express their condolences to the family of the late Tun Michael Chen Wing Sum, who passed away on Friday (26 July 2024).

A Facebook post by the Selangor Royal Office said that the 92-year-old was a local political veteran and a former MCA deputy president.

"His Royal Highness recognised the deceased as a politician committed to serving the people.

"With a background as a lawyer, the deceased began his political career in 1964 and continued to serve under the administration of the late Tun Abdul Razak," said the post.

It added that the late Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah (the former Sultan of Selangor) bestowed Cheng the title of Dato' Paduka Mahkota Selangor (D.P.M.S) in 1977.
