A VICE-MAYOR of a Chinese city was swept away by floodwaters during a search and rescue mission in northern China.

China Press reported that Xia Kun, who was also the public security bureau chief of Linjiang city in Jilin province, was leading a mission with four others to the flood-stricken area when disaster struck on Wednesday.

Authorities mounted a search operation and had so far saved only three of them.

They said Xia and auxiliary police officer Li Xiangshen were still missing.

The vehicle carrying them was swept away by rising waters and landslides during the night, as they made their way through the mountainous terrain.

> Sin Chew Daily reported that Hong Kong singer Charlene Choi amused her fans when she joked that she and her Twins group member Gillian Chung are willing to hold a concert at the age of 80.

“If you are all still around, come for our concert. We can sit on our electric wheelchairs and sing for you,” the 41-year-old said in her Instagram account.

Choi was responding to a playful social media post from a fan who produced a song list for the “Twins’ 80-year-old Concert”.

The list included Rheumatoid Arthritis and Wind (which was tweaked from Kite and Wind) and Next Station Will Be Heaven (which was altered from Next Station Will Be Diva).

The post sparked a lighthearted exchange from Choi’s friends, Stephy Tang and Wyman Wong, who said that they too wanted to attend such a concert.
