Chegubard arrested over corruption allegations


PUTRAJAYA: Police have confirmed the arrest of Badrul Hisham Shaharin (pic), also known as Chegubard.

When contacted, Putrajaya OCPD Asst Comm A. Asmadi Abdul Aziz said he would be remanded on Monday (July 29).

"Yes, I can confirm that he has been arrested and we will apply for remand tomorrow," he said.

His lawyer, Rafique Rashid Ali, stated that the Bersatu member was arrested at 3pm on Sunday (July 28) at the Putrajaya police headquarters.

He said Badrul was being investigated over his allegations of corruption involving a senior naval officer.

Rafique added that Badrul was being investigated under Section 203A of the Penal Code, Section 8 of the Official Secrets Act 1972, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
