KOTA KINABALU: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah’s component parties must secure more seats in the next state polls, says acting Parti Bersatu Sabah president Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam.
He said this would ensure that the GRS government has a stronger voice in the state.
“To achieve this, we must win more seats in the upcoming elections. This is a mission for all of us. We need your support, dedication, and votes. The road ahead may be challenging, but with unity and determination, we can overcome any obstacle," said Gunsalam.
He said this when speaking to the crowd at the N36 Kundasang, N37 Karanaan and N38 Paginatan 39th annual general meeting in Kundasang on Saturday (July 27).
In addition, he also noted that young Sabahans can make a difference in politics by being part of championing the aspirations of local leaders while spearheading the state’s innovation and progress.
In welcoming the young to join the state’s oldest multicultural party, Gunsalam - who is also the Kundasang PBS division chief - said their involvement is “not just desired, but essential”.
“Let your voices be heard and actions shape Sabah’s future through PBS,” said Joachim.
Highlighting that today’s younger generation are Sabah’s future, he said their energy would propel PBS forward.
“I invite you to join PBS, bringing your new ideas and dynamic spirit into our ranks. Let us come together. As for existing dedicated PBS members, it is time to rise again and continue contributing to the party's growth and success. Each of us has a role to play, and together, we can achieve PBS's glory,” he said.
He called on the members to rekindle their spirit, commitment and work tirelessly to strengthen PBS, adding that it was vital to uphold their values of unity and hard work, which have always been the party’s foundation.
“We have always symbolised unity for the people of Sabah, and the party's history shows its ability to unite diverse communities under a common banner.
Also present were the party's deputy president Datuk Jahid Jahim, secretary-general Datuk Julita Majungki, treasurer Datuk Lu Kim Yen, information chief Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, assistant secretary-general Datuk Jonnybone Kurum and youth chief Christoper Mandut
