Perak's Sultan Nazrin, Tuanku Zara visit Taiping Lake Gardens to inspect drying lake

IPOH: Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah and Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim visited Taiping Lake Gardens to assess the current situation there due to the ongoing dry spell, which has caused several sections, including the lakes and ponds to dry up.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, in a Facebook post, said that Their Royal Highnesses’ visit on Monday (July 29) was to observe the water levels, which have significantly dropped due to prolonged dry weather over the past two months.

"Concerned about the water levels at the Taiping Lake Gardens, His Royal Highness Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah and Her Royal Highness Raja Permaisuri Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim, stopped by to inspect the area this afternoon,” the post read.

The post also mentioned that Sultan Nazrin and Tuanku Zara took the opportunity to mingle with visitors there.

Bernama had earlier quoted Taiping Municipal Council (MPT) president Khairul Amir Mohamad Zubir as saying that the water level at the lakes and ponds at Taiping Lake Gardens had decreased by nearly 70 per cent.- Bernama
