Three nabbed after cops find drugs, fake gun in Seberang Perai home

GEORGE TOWN: Three people have been arrested for allegedly possessing drugs and a fake pistol in Simpang Ampat, Seberang Perai.

State police chief Comm Datuk Hamzah Ahmad said the suspects were arrested at 5pm Saturday (July 27) during a Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) raid on a house there.

"We found various types of drugs such as Erimin 5, ketamine and ecstasy/MDMA," he said in a statement on Monday (July 29).

Comm Hamzah said police also seized paraphernalia, a fake pistol, a plastic bottle containing plastic spheres, and a knuckle knife.

Comm Hamzah said two of the suspects, all aged 29 to 44, are foreign women while the third is a local man.

He added that they have been remanded for seven days until Saturday (Aug 3) under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

He said investigations found that the local suspect has six criminal and drug offences on his record.

The foreign women, believed to be working as domestic helpers, have no criminal records, he added.

"The man tested positive for drugs while the other two suspects tested negative," he said.

The male suspect is also being investigated under the Arms Act 1960 and Section 7(1) (A) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958, Comm Hamzah added.
