Two cops detained over alleged extortion in Kajang

SHAH ALAM: Two police personnel have been detained for allegedly extorting a foreigner at Jalan Taming Sari, Kajang, says Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.

The Selangor police chief said a foreigner lodged a police report over a viral video, which showed the alleged extortion taking place.

"Investigations showed the incident occurred on Sunday (July 28). We have since detained two police personnel, who are attached to the Kajang district police headquarters. We have also opened an investigation paper under Section 384 of the Penal Code," he said in a statement on Monday (July 29).

Both police personnel have been remanded for two days until Tuesday (July 30), Comm Hussein said.

"Selangor police will not protect any officer or personnel involved in criminal activities. We will not compromise in thoroughly investigating the case based on the offence committed," he said.
