Forest Heights Form Six College renamed in honour of Negri Yang di-Pertuan Besar

SEREMBAN: The Forest Heights Form Six College here - the only such institution in Negri Sembilan - has been renamed Tuanku Muhriz Form Six College.

The “rebranding” was possible after the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir gave his assent following a request by the state Education department in January this year.

The name change proclamation was made by Tuanku Muhriz at the college's Dewan Sri Siantan today (July 30).

Also present were his consort Tuanku Aishah Rohani Tengku Besar Mahmud, son Tunku Zain Al-'Abidin, Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun and Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek.

Principal Datin Seri Nurul Hidayah Seah Abdullah said the name change was to honour Tuanku Muhriz as the supreme ruler of Negri Sembilan.

"We pray that with this proclamation, it will bring more blessings and steer the college to even greater success in academics, character building and co-curriculum.

"Today is a historic day for all of us at the college and we would like to extend our profound gratitude and thanks to the Royal couple for taking time to be present with,"she said in her speech.

Tracing back the college's history, she said it was previously known as SMK Senawang 3. The school's name was changed to SMK Forest Heights in December 2018.

In 2022, its name was changed to Forest Heights Form Six College as it was exclusively for students pursuing the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia.

Nurul Hidayah said the college today had the third highest enrolment of Form Six students in the country with 868.

"In 2017, we only had one student who scored a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.0 in the STPM exam and this increased to 13 last year.

"We have also produced many students who have excelled in co-curriculum activities who went on to achieve success and bring a good name to the college," she said.

She said the college had 101 teachers assisted by nine support staff.

Its students come from all over the state and some rent houses nearby.

"I hope the ministry would also consider building a hostel for the students, especially those who live far away," she said.

Nurul Hidayah also urged the college's teachers and students to uphold the trust and responsibilities that came with the rebranding.

She said although the students need to continue to excel in all fields, there has to be a balance.

"Good students do not only excel academically as the formation of good character should also be given priority as we strive to produce first-class human capital," she added.
