Johor's Mahkota rep a 'motherly' figure, says fellow lawmaker Ling Tian Soon

JOHOR BARU: Ling Tian Soon has described Mahkota assemblyman Datuk Sharifah Azizah Syed Zain, who is currently being treated at Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom Kluang Hospital, as a motherly figure.

The Johor health and environment committee chairman said that he visited the 64-year-old who is warded at the hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU) on Thursday (Aug 1) morning.

“She is a leader and a political figure who is experienced and a mother full of love and energy. To us (elected representatives) who are much younger, she is loving and always tells us to call her Umi (mother).

“She is very dedicated when it comes to issues involving her constituency and her speeches during state assembly sitting are full of good views,” he said in a Facebook post here on Thursday (August 1) night.

The Yong Peng assemblyman also urged the public to pray for Sharifah Azizah so that she would be able to overcome the challenges she is facing and recover quickly.

Sharifah Azizah, who is also Kluang Umno division Wanita chief, is the former Johor Umno Wanita chief and has been hospitalised since Tuesday (July 30) night due to internal bleeding.

She won the Mahkota state seat during the Johor state election in 2022. Before that, Sharifah Azizah was the Penawar assemblyman from 2018 to 2022.
