KUALA LUMPUR: One more accomplice to a robbery involving members of the police General Operations Force (GOF) has been arrested, says Bukit Aman.
At a press conference Friday (Aug 2), Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said that the 32-year-old surrendered himself to the Kajang police at around 1.40am Friday.
"He is not a member of the police force. We believe that there is still one more suspect at large," he said in Bukit Aman.
He added that the police will not compromise on any wrongdoings by those from the police force and that this is in tandem with what had been said by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.
In a statement Thursday (Aug 1), Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said that three members of the GOF had been arrested after being linked to a robbery case that involved firearms in Jalan Sungai Pening in Semenyih.
Two of the policemen, aged 32 and 35 years old, were arrested on Wednesday (July 31), at the Cheras 19th Battalion Camp at 12.20am, while the third suspect, a 24-year-old, had surrendered himself at the Kajang district police headquarters at 1pm to facilitate investigations.
In an unrelated matter, Comm Shuhaily said that the police have handed over investigation papers to the Attorney General's Chambers on the kidnapping of six-year-old Albertine Leo Jia Hui who was later found in a budget hotel with the now arrested suspect in Batang Kali.
"The papers have been submitted for charging. It's a straightforward case to me and the suspect was caught red-handed.
"As far as police investigations are concerned, the case is settled," he said.
He added that he was aware of public concern as a slew of missing persons cases were also reported around the same time of her kidnapping.
"Yes we can see a slight increase but it is not yet worrying. Around 90% of cases were solved as many had run away following friends and likewise," he said.
