Condolences pour in for late Mahkota assemblyman Sharifah Azizah


KUALA LUMPUR: Condolences have been pouring in for Mahkota assemblyman Datuk Sharifah Azizah Syed Zain, who passed away on Friday (Aug 2).

Johor health and environment committee chairman Ling Tian Soon said her passing was a great loss to the whole country, especially for Johoreans.

"My heartfelt condolences to the family of Sharifah Azizah, who has returned to the eternal abode. May her family be granted strength and resilience. Her passing is indeed a great loss to the country, especially to the people of Johor," he said.

Ling, who is also MCA Youth chief, described Sharifah Azizah as a very caring leader and a loving person.

Johor MIC chief R. Vidyananthan also expressed his condolences on social media.

"I take this opportunity to express my heartfelt condolences to the family of Sharifah Azizah. Her contributions and service to the state of Johor, especially to the Mahkota constituency, will never be forgotten," he said.

State housing and local government committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor said Sharifah Azizah had contributed and served the people of Mahkota greatly.

"Just last Friday, I met Umi to discuss public housing issues in Kluang. Rest in peace, Umi Sharifah Azizah. My heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, and may Allah SWT place her soul among the righteous," he said. – Bernama
