Former Penang exco Phee Boon Poh warded after fall

GEORGE TOWN: Former state executive councillor Datuk Seri Phee Boon Poh is in stable condition after being admitted to a private hospital for suspected cardiac arrest.

His daughter Syn Tze said her father was receiving treatment from specialists.

"It happened all of a sudden and we had to rush him to the hospital," the Sungai Puyu assemblyman said on Friday (Aug 2), but declined to comment further.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said he was informed by Syn Tze that Phee, 72, had a fall at around 11.45pm on Thursday (Aug 1) and was under specialist care in the intensive care unit.

"They are looking into the cause and it is still too early to draw any conclusions... he regained consciousness this morning.

"We will pray for him and as we wait for further updates on his condition," Chow told reporters at an event.

Phee was the Sungai Puyu assemblyman from 2004 until last year.
