Penang CM to check on Jagdeep's recovery process

GEORGE TOWN: Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow is meeting Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo to see whether he needs to extend his medical leave.

Chow said he will meet with Jagdeep’s family today as he undergoes medical treatment for his ankle injury and skin-related medical issues.

“The state executive council has agreed to give Jagdeep extra time to recover. I will inform them that they can write to us if he needs extra time to recover as advised by the doctors,” he told reporters at his office yesterday.

Chow had previously given Jagdeep 11 days leave from July 22 to Aug 5 for medical reasons.

Jagdeep had shared on social media that he was in Kuala Lumpur to get a second opinion on his ankle injury.

On Penang's dry spell, Chow said the state government is still waiting for an approval from the Federal Government to carry out cloud seeding in the state.

He said the Penang Water Supply Regulator had written to Nadma two times since July 19 but did not get a response on the matter.

On Thursday (Aug 1), the effective capacity of the Air Itam Dam is at 35.8% while the Teluk Bahang Dam is currently at 29.6%.

The Penang Water Supply Corp (PBAPP) has appealed to domestic water users in the state to reduce water consumption by 10% until the rainy season returns next month.
