TikToker held for indecent act in front of police car

KOTA KINABALU: A TikToker’s bid for online fame backfired when she was arrested for inappropriate behaviour in front of a police vehicle.

The 22-year-old woman uploaded a video on her TikTok account hoping it would go viral, but instead, it caught the attention of the authorities.

Tawau district police chief Asst Comm Jasmin Hussin said an investigation revealed that the video showed the woman performing inappropriate acts in a public area with a police car visible in the background.

The incident occurred around 4pm in downtown Tawau.

“Following the video’s circulation, a senior police officer, who also served as the complainant, filed a report against the woman over her post on TikTok,” said ACP Jasmin, adding that a police team apprehended the local woman on Thursday to assist with the investigation.

He said the woman had intentionally recorded a dance video for entertainment purposes but later removed it from her TikTok account.

“A mobile phone and SIM card belonging to the suspect were seized for further investigation and her statement was recorded.

“The case is being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and Section 15 of the Minor Offences Ordinance of Sabah State Law,” he said.
