PETALING JAYA: It was another wave of congratulations after Lee Zii Jia secured Malaysia’s second bronze medal at the Paris Olympics.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim took to his official X page to commend the badminton player, saying, “Congratulations Lee Zii Jia! Another breathtaking performance that has led to the second bronze medal for the country.”

MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong also celebrated Lee’s achievement on his Facebook page.
“Congratulations to Lee Zii Jia for bringing home another bronze medal for Malaysia! What a fierce and nail-biting match!” he wrote.
Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil expressed his pride on his Facebook page, stating, “We are so proud of you.”
On social media, Malaysians heaped on the praises for the independent shuttler, whose loss in the semi-finals on Sunday to Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn had left many Malaysians feeling down.
In the battle for the bronze medal, the world no. 7 Lee came from behind to beat 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games gold medallist Lakshya Sen 13-21, 21-16, 21-11 at Adidas Arena in Porte de la Chapelle.
Juliet Choi took to Facebook to congratulate the 26-year-old player.
“Congratulations to LZJ. This bronze medal isn’t easy to earn.
“All over, it was a hard fight but only then you won it. Well, thanks LZJ for bringing one more bronze to our country,” she wrote.
Amos Goh praised Lee’s performance, noting, “Zii Jia showed nerves of steel with that massive comeback in the 2nd set! We’re so proud of you! Thank you, Zii Jia!”
Instagram user @em.eeml expressed her gratitude in a comment saying, “Well done and thank you LZJ! Way to go!”
Another Instagram user, @_jasonjk_, wrote, “Amazing how badminton unites all of us regardless of race or religion. Kudos to LZJ for a deserving victory. Hopefully, the next Olympics will be your stage to shine.”
