PEKAN: Deeply concerned with the plight of the family whose house was bulldozed by a trailer on Saturday, Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah will provide them with a new home.
Mohd Fakhrul Hafiz Nasruddin, 35, said that His Royal Highness told him when he visited the family at about 1.30 pm.
Al-Sultan Abdullah spent some time with the family and offered words of comfort to them.
The accident, occured on Jalan Pekan-Rompin near Kampung Ketapang Hilir, killing Mohd Fakhrul Hafiz's two younger siblings.
"His Royal Highness, upon visiting the site of our house that was struck by the lorry told me that, insya-Allah, he would replace it and build a new home, in the same area, on our ancestral land.
"Al-Sultan Abdullah also advised us to pursue legal action against the lorry company involved to seek justice for our family,” he told reporters after the visit by the Ruler, who was also accompanied by state Investment, Industries, Science, Technology and Innovation Committee chairman Mohd Nizar Najib.
In the incident, the driver of the trailer, who was transporting plasterboard from Johor Baru to Kuantan, is believed to have lost control on a left bend and veered into the opposite lane, crashing into the house on the right side of the road, Bernama reported.
The accident resulted in the death of Nurnazatul Fasiha Nasruddin, 32, at the scene, while her brother Mohd Waldon Faris, 21, died at Pekan Hospital while undergoing treatment.
The victims’ parents, Norrulaini Mohd Hassan, 54, and Nasruddin Othman, 60, along with a family friend Muhammad Gabriel Miqhael Muhammad Faidzal, 19, who were in the house, are being treated at the hospital.
Mohd Fakhrul Hafiz said he hoped that the authorities will install higher road barriers in the area to prevent similar accidents in the future. – Bernama
