Albertine undergoing therapy after kidnapping


JOHOR BARU: Six-year-old Albertine Leo Jia Hu is now seeing a child psychologist, according to her mother.

Leo Qieo Xin, 37, posted on Facebook a picture and a short video clip of the two of them waiting for their turn at a paediatric clinic in a public hospital here.

“Mummy is here to cheer you up. You will definitely get better.

“Albertine is now seeing a psychologist as she is experiencing emotional stress,” Qieo Xin said in the post yesterday.

Meanwhile, Johor police chief Comm M. Kumar said the motive behind Albertine’s abduction will be established soon.

He said this was after police found new leads in their investigation on the main suspect.

“The suspect has been remanded until Saturday. We hope in a couple of days, we would be able to establish the motive behind the victim’s abduction,” he told a press conference at the state police headquarters here yesterday.

Comm Kumar also said that initial investigations found the suspect had acted alone and has no ties with criminal groups.

On Sunday, the suspect was re-arrested and remanded to allow further investigation under Section 292 of the Penal Code and other laws.

Previously, the suspect was remanded for 13 days from July 23 to assist in investigations under Section 365 of the Penal Code and other laws before being released on police bail.

Albertine was reported missing by her father on July 20 at a shopping mall in Iskandar Puteri before she was found safe at a budget hotel in Batang Kali, Selangor, on July 23.
