Nabbed over RM15mil contract


KUALA LUMPUR: Five men suspected of being involved in bribery activities to secure a RM15.3mil oil tanker cleaning contract three years ago have been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

The individuals detained are a manager of an oil and gas subsidiary, two former employees of the company and two contractors.

“All the individuals, aged between 30 and 63, were detained at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya at 8pm yesterday after their statements were recorded,” said a source, Bernama reported.

Putrajaya Magistrate Irza Zulaikha Rohanuddin allowed the manager and two former employees of the company to be remanded for five days, while the two contractors were remanded for three days starting today, following an application by MACC.
