Restless cat lands Good Samaritan in a tight spot

NIBONG TEBAL: A man's kind act of taking a stray cat to the veterinarian landed him in a difficult situation when the animal was seen being dragged behind his vehicle.

South Seberang Perai OCPD Supt Chong Boo Khim said the incident was circulated on social media with the man being accused of animal abuse.

"The man, having discovered the stray cat in poor condition near his home, decided to take it to a clinic at Simpang Ampat.

"En route, the cat attempted to escape, resulting in it becoming entangled and dangling from the vehicle," he said here on Friday (Aug 9).

Supt Chong said the man only realised the cat's predicament when he arrived at the clinic, and lodged a police report on Thursday (Aug 8) evening.

He said the case has been referred to the Penang Veterinary Services Department, and advised the public not to speculate.

He said they should obtain information from reliable sources and avoid spreading unconfirmed information.
