Melaka APM evacuates 248 flood victims in Alor Gajah


MELAKA: Melaka Defence Department (APM) evacuates 248 flood victims from 48 families in Alor Gajah.

APM's Alor Gajah Lt (PA) Mohd Ridhwan Latip said the evacuees were sheltered at six evacuation centres at 8.30pm on Sunday (Aug 11).

He said the affected areas are mostly situated in Ayer Limau, Lendu and Taboh Naning constituencies.

Mohd Ridhwan said these areas were submerged following heavy rain in the state since 11am on Sunday (Aug 11).

The badly affected areas include Kampung Paya Lebar, Ramuan China Besar, Bukit Apit, Kampung Ayer Limau, Kampung Sg Jernih, Kampung Lekok, Kampung Paya Rumput, Taman Masjid Tanah Ria and Taman Bandar Baru Masjid Tanah.

"We are continuing to monitor the situation," he said.

Meanwhile, Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh announced RM300 aid to each evacuee.

"The state government will also distribute necessary food items to the victims," he said after visiting the affected areas.
