Traffic summons discounts, helmet exchange among highlights at Souther Zone Madani Rakyat event


KUALA LUMPUR: The Southern Zone Madani Rakyat programme, set to take place at Dataran UTM, Skudai, Johor Baru from Aug 15 to 17, will continue to feature traffic summons discounts of up to 50%, as well as helmet and Quran exchange initiatives.

The Prime Minister’s Department’s Performance Acceleration Coordination Unit (PACU) corporate communications head, Sapian Mamat, said a total of 3,000 new helmets and 500 new copies of the Quran would be made available for early visitors.

"The Madani Sales segment, involving 136 entrepreneurs offering discounts and special deals, will also continue, along with exhibitions of government assets, including those from the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department," he said when interviewed on Bernama Radio.

He added that there would be more than 170 touchpoint services for the public and 34 booths from ministries and state agencies offering services and information.

Families attending the programme can enjoy a petting zoo, participate in horse-riding activities and enter various competitions, including fishing, esports, remote-controlled cars and geocaching.

The public can also participate in a 5km Fun Run and aerobics and register for MyDigital ID. Additionally, over 1,000 vacancies from various companies will be available at the event.

Sapian said that on the main stage, visitors can engage in intellectual activities such as the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 slot, which will be conducted by the Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry, as well as a session by the Health Ministry titled "Spa or Aesthetic Clinic?".

Also scheduled are the Busana Cilik Kemerdekaan competition organised by the National Unity Ministry and cultural performances by Permata Seni Tari under the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry.

Regarding facilities, he said organisers have provided prayer rooms, toilets, food trucks, over 1,000 parking spaces and a shuttle bus service.

He said the public is invited to enliven the programme, which will run from 9am to 10pm (Aug 15 and 16) and from 9am to 6pm on Aug 17.

The Southern Zone Madani Rakyat 2024 programme, which includes Johor, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka, is organised by the Prime Minister’s Department through PACU, with the strategic cooperation of the Economy Ministry and the Johor government.

The programme will focus on the implementation of the Madani Economy policy and the government’s ongoing commitment to empowering the people, entrepreneurs and industries since its launch a year ago. – Bernama
