A BARBECUE restaurant in Sichuan, China, has introduced an unconventional way of serving durian by combining it with grilled beef.

According to Sin Chew Daily, the restaurant in Chengdu city offers two unique dishes: one featuring beef slices mixed with durian flesh, and another where durian tops the meat. Both dishes are served in a durian shell.

Meanwhile in Singapore, a Japanese ramen restaurant has launched a novel beverage that combines milk tea with pickled cockles. The salted cheese foam milk tea with cockles, priced at S$4.90 (RM16), was created to celebrate the country’s national day and the opening of the restaurant’s 13th branch.

The drink has sparked a heated debate online, with some calling it “dark cuisine”, a term used in China to describe bizarre culinary style or unusual food pairings.

However, those who have tasted it told 8world Entertainment Lifestyle, a Singaporean digital magazine, that it was surprisingly pleasant.
