PETALING JAYA: In its continuous fight against financial crime, especially corruption and abuse of power, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will hold a programme involving multiple parties that include government agencies, statutory bodies, universities and professional organisations.
The “Strengthening Accounting and Auditing Practices” initiative will be launched by MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki at Royale Chulan Hotel in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow.
It will be participated by the National Audit Department (JANM), Accountant General’s Department (ANM), Inland Revenue Board (LHDN), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (Maicsa), and Multimedia University.
Mohd Azwan Ramli, director of MACC’s Financial Analysis Division, which is hosting the programme, said it will feature an exchange of experiences and engagements aimed at fostering strategic cooperation through planned activities.
“All attendees will also share insights and expertise in identifying the best practices for accounting and auditing in Malaysia while addressing financial crime, particularly corruption and abuse of power.
“This programme indirectly supports the government’s goal of implementing the National Anti-Corruption Strategy 2024-2028.
“(The strategy) focuses on the effectiveness of anti-corruption measures, improving governance and integrity in both the public and private sectors,” he said in a statement yesterday.
