Security guard dies in car-lorry collision near Kluang


KLUANG: A 35-year-old security guard was killed after his car collided with a lorry at KM102 Jalan Batu Pahat-Mersing here.

Kluang OCPD ACP Bahrin Mohd Noh said the incident occurred at 4pm on Tuesday (Aug 13) during heavy rain.

"Our initial investigation revealed that the victim was driving his car from Kahang towards Mersing.

"Upon arriving at the location, the victim’s car collided in the middle of the road with an oncoming lorry driven by a 44-year-old man," he said in a statement.

The impact caused the victim’s car to turn and crash into the left side of the road while the lorry crashed into the right side, he added.

ACP Bahrin also informed that the lorry driver was unharmed while the victim, identified as Mohd Thaufik Mohd Sukiman, suffered a serious injury to the face and was pronounced dead at the location.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
