IPOH: The police have recorded statements from five Tapah Prison officers in the course of investigating the drone found with a laundry bag containing drugs on the jail's roof last week.
Perak police chief Comm Datuk Azizi Mat Aris said these include security post guards and officers who were manning the CCTV cameras at the prison.
"We are still investigating the matter and have yet to determine who the drugs were intended for and who sent it," he said.
"The drone managed to evade the CCTV cameras by flying high," he said at a press conference after the monthly gathering at the state police contingent headquarters here on Tuesday (Aug 13).
"We believe the person who was flying the drone lost control of it before it crashed on the roof," he said.
Comm Azizi said there had been previous cases where drugs were smuggled into the prison, adding that there had been six instances between 2022 and 2024.

On the gruesome murder case involving a teacher in Melaka, Comm Azizi said the state police would render its assistance if required.
