MELAKA: A 42-year-old businesswoman has flown down from Beijing, China to seek justice for her husband who was killed in a road accident on Jalan Syed Abdul Aziz here last Friday.

Speaking to The Star through her Kuala Lumpur-based lawyer, James Ee Kah Fuk, the deceased's wife Wang Wei said she was saddened by the whole episode as her husband and 12-year-old son were blissfully holidaying here before the unfortunate incident happened.

Ee said Wang arrived in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday night (Aug 11) to claim her husband's body and handle other matters relating to the incident.

"She was also distraught about losing her husband who she described as a loving and humble person.

"We have also met police officers from the Melaka Tengah police headquarters to assist the investigation," he said on Tuesday (Aug 13).

Ee said Wang didn't follow her husband and son on the holiday trip here as she was busy with her business back in China.

Her husband Lyu Yong Qian, also from Bejing, China was killed on the spot while crossing the road at 9.40pm on Aug 9.

The deceased was with his son Lyu Junda and both father and son were crossing the road while on their way to their hotel from a shopping complex here.

Junda, who sustained injuries in the incident, has since returned to China after he was discharged from the hospital here.

On Aug 10, Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit said the car which hit Yong Qian was driven by a 55-year-old man from Taman Bukit Cheng, here.

He said the driver of the car told investigation officers that he was on his way to deliver food to a friend and was unable to see the two crossing the road.

The victim arrived in Singapore on Aug 5 and spent two nights in Port Dickson before arriving here Aug 9 for one night before returning to Singapore on Aug 10.

Police are probing the incident under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
