SEREMBAN: A Fly the Jalur Gemilang event held at the Bandar Sri Sendayan township near here was truly unique as students, government servants, religious organisations and resident associations came together to take part in the campaign held in conjunction with the National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations.
Representatives from 43 resident associations, 22 religious organisations and places of worship, 10 schools and three Village Development and Security Committees converged at the d’Tempat Country Club for the event organised by developer Matrix Concepts Holdings Bhd.
Also in attendance were government servants including representatives from the Sendayan Air Base, Fire and Rescue Department, Seremban City Council and police.
The celebration took off with students from Matrix Global Schools, which comprises the Matrix International School, Matrix International Pre-School and Matrix Private School, reciting the Rukun Negara.
This was followed by a cultural show by the KL Arts Group and a drum performance by Voice of Percussion.
Matrix Concepts chief executive officer Chai Keng Wai said 5,000 Jalur Gemilang were distributed to those present so that they can fly them at their premises or homes.
“We also gave out 500 pots of hibiscus saplings to emphasise the significance of the bunga raya as Malaysia’s national flower.
“We want to help instil the spirit of patriotism and strengthen community ties as we celebrate both the National Day and Malaysia Day,” he said
Chai added that Matrix Concepts has already put up 1,000 Jalur Gemilang in Bandar Seri Sendayan before the event.
He said this annual programme on Matrix Concepts’ calendar is aimed at encouraging more Malaysians to fly the national flag and display their pride and love for the nation.
“This is also to promote the sense of unity in line with this year’s National Day and Malaysia Day theme, ‘Malaysia Madani: Jiwa Merdeka’.
“We at Matrix Concepts are proud to play our part to promote such important events and at the same time heed the Prime Minister’s call to encourage all Malaysians to fly the Jalur Gemilang at their homes and workplaces,” he added.
Matrix Concepts, said Chai, will also organise the Matrix Malaysia Day Night Half-Marathon on Sept 15.
The event, to be held in collaboration with the Seremban City Council at Bandar Sri Sendayan, is expected to draw some 5,000 participants.
“This night run is not only a celebration of fitness and health but also a continued effort to promote unity and community engagement.
“We remain dedicated to promoting national pride and unity through such meaningful initiatives and helping ensure these values are passed down to future generations,” he added.
