Johor police confirm fire at third floor of state contingent HQ


JOHOR BARU: A fire broke out at the third floor of police quarters here on Monday (Aug 12) night.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said they received a distress call on the incident at Johor police headquarters at about 9.45pm on Monday.

“The Fire and Rescue Department rushed to the scene and managed to put out the fire completely at about 10.15pm. Only one room on the third floor of the police quarters was engulfed in fire, and no deaths were reported,” he said in a statement here.

He said no criminal elements were found and that the case had been handed over to the Fire and Rescue Department for further investigation.

“The Department will be investigating the cause of the fire and losses involved,” he said.

ACP Raub’s statement comes after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
