Woman found strangled in Kuantan residence, cops probing case as murder

KUANTAN: A housewife was found dead with strangulation marks at her residence in Indera Mahkota on Wednesday (Aug 14) afternoon.

Kuantan OCPD Asst Comm Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu said the victim, 28, was found unconscious in her bedroom by her husband at 7.30pm.

"Before the discovery, the victim's father, 62, made a police report regarding the victim's disappearance at 3.25pm on Wednesday after she failed to be contacted.

"She last communicated via WhatsApp messaging at 8.30am the same day," he said in a media statement Thursday (Aug 15).

He said the victim lived with her husband, a Chinese national who works as a factory supervisor, their three-year-old son, and her eight-year-old sister-in-law.

Wan Mohd Zahari stated that the victim's body was taken to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) for a post-mortem examination, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

"The deceased is believed to have been killed in the house by strangulation.

"Following this, police have remanded three men and one woman aged 27 to 62, all family members of the deceased, for questioning. Remand starts today," he said. – Bernama
