TWELVE Hindu organisations in Penang have submitted a joint memorandum urging that the Penang Hindu Endowments Board (PHEB) be placed under Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo, Makkal Osai reported.

Dr Muniandy Munusamy, who spoke on behalf of the collective, said they had submitted the document to Jagdeep’s officer Kishwin Srinaveen as the Deputy CM was out for a meeting at the time.

Batu Kawan Devisree Muthu Mariamman Temple chairman MV Mathialagan and other community leaders were part of the delegation.

The organisations felt that PHEB would be more transparent, better managed, and more responsible under the Deputy CM, Muniandy said.

This move, he added, would mean better spending of the funds allocated to PHEB and a quicker response to pressing issues in the Hindu community.
