Machete-wielding motorcyclists kill car washer, injure guard in Kedah attacks

SUNGAI PETANI: A car washer was killed and a security guard seriously injured in an attack in Bedong near here on Thursday (Aug 15).

Kuala Muda OCPD Asst Comm Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail said the car washer, in his 20s, died on the way to Hospital Sultan Abdul Halim here.

He said the hospital informed police at about 2.20am Thursday that two local men in their late 20s had been brought in with slash wounds on the head and body.

"However, one of them was reported to have died on the way to the hospital," he said in a statement on Friday (Aug 16).

ACP Wan Azharuddin said a preliminary investigation found that the security guard was attacked by five men on motorcycles and armed with machetes at the junction to Kampung Toh Pawang.

Wan Azharuddin said the suspects then went to a car wash in Taman Bedong, about 2.7km away, and attacked the second victim.

The police are investigating both cases under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, he said.

He urged witnesses and anyone with information on the incident to contact the Kuala Muda district police headquarters at 04-4299222 or the investigating officer Asst Supt Azmirul Abdul Aziz at 019-4446521. – Bernama
